Locally, the new Rio has enjoyed great success, with a few awards, including being crowned Independent Newspaper’s overall winner in the “Best small/budget car category in December 2011
and now most recently named the “Best B-segment Hatch” in Car magazine’s November 2012 comparitive test. The Rio came out on top beating well kown rivals.

On Monday 29 October 2012, the Kia Rio TEC Hatch model was announced as a finalist for the 2013 Wesbank Car of the Year competition. This is the third consecutive finalist nomination for
KIA, following Picanto in 2011, and Sportage in 2010.
“These nomination truly reflects how far KIA has come in the last few years, both locally and internationally”, Levin adds. “We have enjoyed tremendous success with all of our models, with
the Rio being one of our most popular models”.
“The Kia Rio TEC is an all inclusive package, offering various standard features which are rare in the B-segment. Features differentiating us from competitors include Daytime running lights,
park distance control, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats and built-in Bluetooth, to name a few”.
